There was just something special about Alex & Suzie's Tews Falls wedding day. As we were editing images, it was like every photograph transported us back to remind us how perfect their day was (as you can see by this really, really long post). True, the weather cooperated completely and the late summer foliage at Hamilton's Tews Falls Park could not have been more scenic, but the most beautiful part about photographing their wedding day was the love and joy that beamed from their faces. True story.
We met Suzie at her friend's apartment, just as she was getting her final touches done on her makeup. Even while sporting big curlers, Suzie was still super cute!
Suzie's tea-length dress was simple elegance at its best, accented with diamonds, pearls, bright coral shoes and rose bouquet, a 50s-style birdcage veil fascinator...and of course tequila shot glasses. Why not?
Just a few zips, buttons, and one approving kiss later, Suzie's bridesmaids had her dressed and ready to go!
Meanwhile, we took a few more photos of Suzie and her lovely ladies while she anticipated seeing her groom for the first time that day. Love these!
We have to say as photographers, we LOVE first looks. It's so wonderful to have the latitude to capture the expressions of the bride and groom first seeing each other privately in a relaxed atmosphere before the wedding. First looks make for some absolutely stunning photos. Here, Suzie is subtly reminding us to "hush" as she heads over to tap her groom on the shoulder and see his face light up as he turns around!
Did we mention how much we love first looks? :)
After a great time with the bridal party at Tews Falls Park, it was time to head over to the Kingdom Hall for their ceremony. The look on Alex's face as Suzie's father walked her down the aisle was equally matched by the expression on her face after she kissed her groom for the first time as his wife. So much love in the house! :)
The bridal party asked to make one more stop on the way to the reception at Detour Roasters Coffee House in Dundas. It was a perfectly fine cafe to have a hot drink freshly brewed or a cold drink freshly tapped. Or to just be photographed.
Finally, Alex and Suzie arrived at the Copetown Community Center to kick off the reception with their first dance. It was sweet and silly, as they danced and sang "opera style" to each other.
After the parent dances, Alex and Suzie started the party off with a demonstration of the Virginia Reel, followed by a 15-minute rendition of it to the tune of "Cotton-Eye Joe." From that moment on, the dance floor was packed!
Alex and Suzie - thanks for choosing us to photograph your day! We were glad to both capture it as your photographers, and celebrate it as your friends! We hope you enjoy reliving the moment for eons to come! :)
