First Looks to Remember: Jared & Laura's Spring Lake Winery Wedding

Every wedding has something about it that tugs at your heartstrings. It may be a moment during the vows, or speeches, or the father-daughter dance. For Laura and Jared, it was definitely their first looks at Spring Lake Winery. This was one of those weddings where, as a wedding photographer, you find yourself holding back tears as you photograph a beautiful, candid, intimate exchange of emotion. There in that moment, you are grateful and humbled to be the ones entrusted to document the love that brings together two people and their families.

On their Saturday wedding day, Laura and Jared awoke to a cool, late-summer rain that was so unrelenting, surely the skies were just weeping with joy for them. It must be, because these two had so much to celebrate.  That 'love at first sight' adage that Jared had heard about and doubted his whole life had found its fulfillment in Laura, and today he would make her his wife. Jared had told us, "I always wondered and I would ask, how did you know this person was the one?" Then he met Laura. "From the time I met her, there was something...I was drawn to her energy (also, she was beautiful)!" On the wedding day for sure, she was a beautiful bride.

We met Laura and her host of family and friends at the Homewood Suites in Amherst, New York. The bold yellow dresses and beaming sunflower bouquets added a little splash of sunshine to brighten the day.

Jared's gift to Laura was a Pandora bracelet with charms given throughout the day, representing different facets of their relationship. Jared would save the last charm to give to her personally later that afternoon.

Since Laura's sister was expecting, we had to get one baby bump photo before she could get in her dress. Her mom and sister helped her zip up - and we think Laura's mom may have had more fun with that than the bride!

After Laura had her moment with dad, we had a few minutes with Laura to capture some beautiful bridal portraits.

Soon we were headed down the road to Spring Lake Winery where we caught up with Jared and his groomsmen getting ready in the cottage along the lake. Jared was as sharp as could be, from the cufflinks to the bracelet to the cool shades. To top it off, his bride had given him a gift of engraved running shoe plates in loving memory of his parents; this way, they were step-by-step with him all day.

Jared's crew was sharp, down to the socks. Jared's brother-in-law may have stood out as different with his Canadian socks, but he was a welcome member among the bunch ;)

Jared and Laura had opted to see each other before the ceremony so they would have plenty of time for couples photographs. Just as they were preparing for their first looks, the light rain turned into a downpour! So we opted for first looks under the pavilion. Jared was just overcome with emotion when we saw Laura, as if he saw his past, present and future family all in one look. It was so touching!

Jared had one more charm for Laura to complete the gift set. As he handed it to Laura with a personal note, we were reminded of Laura's expressions about him. "Jared has a generous personality, willing to help out anyone and anybody; genuine. I try to do everything myself, but he still manages to find a way to be a gentleman." Clearly it shows.

During the ceremony, Laura and Jared were both asked to close their eyes as special memories and milestones throughout their relationship were recounted to them. The expressions on their faces during their recall, and during each other's personal vows, were priceless.

We would be remiss if we didn't mention how Laura's sister brought down the house with her speech. Half way through it, we were regretting we hadn't set up to video record it, because it was honestly one of the funniest we've ever heard! Laura laughed til she cried (so did we)! After dinner, Laura danced with his father, and Jared with his aunts, each in turn. These two are truly loved!

Every bride wants sunshine on her wedding day, but it doesn't always turn out that way. So what do you do when the rain comes? Embrace it! We love that these two were willing to do that - it made for two of our favorite shots from their day!

As for the rest of the evening, well, the photos tell the story:  The party was on, the DJ kept the grooves coming, and everyone danced the night away!

Laura and Jared - thanks for choosing us to capture your Spring Lake Winery wedding! We had an amazing time with your friends and family, and wish you both every happiness in your new adventures together as husband and wife!

Traditionally Modern: Daniel & Christine's Downtown Buffalo & Orchard Park Country Club Wedding

When we first met Daniel and Christine over Skype to talk about their wedding day plans, it was clear these two had an easy, natural chemistry stemming from a great friendship. So we had a really good feeling about how well their affection for each other would photograph on their wedding day, and we were right on the money.

We met Christine at her family's home in Orchard Park the afternoon of her wedding, where she was as cool as a cucumber in the company of her parents and bridesmaids.

After capturing that moment when her dad would see his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress, we had some time to capture some beautiful portraits of Christine. As we did, we couldn't help but be reminded of how Dan first described her smile and her bubbly, contagious laugh to us in that initial conversation. She was definitely a ray of sunshine!

Not to be outdone was Dan and his family who prepared for the wedding at the Salvatore's Garden Place Hotel. We love how sharp Dan and his gents look in their navy suits!

Since Daniel and Christine are both originally from Western New York, it was really important to them to capture some Buffalo landmarks as part of their bridal party photographs--and they worked in plenty of time between the ceremony and the reception to make it happen (we LOVE that)! So after their Orchard Park ceremony, we headed to downtown Buffalo, stopping first in the Cobblestone District, and then on to Buffalo City Hall. Of course, since the car show happened to be in town around the corner, we were thrilled to work in a classic car shot at the Pierce Arrow Museum in between stops :)

Still having some time before the guests would arrive for the reception, we headed to Orchard Park Country Club and had a few more beautiful moments with the bride and groom. The grounds of the Country Club were so picturesque, we could have kept these two out there on the green even longer - but the time had arrived for the reception to start!

Dan and Christine were overjoyed at their entrance and Dan even did a first dance before the 'official' first dance, which just set the tone of celebration that evening. The speeches from the maid of honor, the best man, and Christine's dad were so thoughtfully written and delivered that they just made your heart melt...not to mention the father-daughter and mother-son dances!

Dan and Christine were masters at the shoe game. Since their friendship goes back to their days of working together at YMCA day camp, they really know each other well!

Dan & Christine - we're so glad you found us in your wedding photography search on the worldwide web! It was our total pleasure to work with you, your families and friends on your gorgeous wedding day. We wish you both the best in your lives as husband and wife, and each other's best friend! :)

A Summer Day on the Green: Tony and Theresa's Diamond Hawk Golf Course Wedding

On a warm Saturday in June, Tony and Theresa gathered their families and friends to celebrate their marriage together, and what a beautiful day they had! These newlyweds were so easy going and pleasant that they made photographing their day a piece of cake!

We met the two of them early that afternoon for their ceremony in Hamburg. Theresa was all smiles on the limo bus with her girls while Tony was inside with his groomsmen, fastening boutineers in final preparation before the ceremony would begin.

After the ceremony, we all headed over to Diamond Hawk Golf Course in Depew. Before the reception began, we ventured out on the green by way of golf carts for some fun shots with the bridal party. What a ride!

We were happy to have Kelsey Watroba of Kelsey Gene Photography as our assistant for this wedding, and we are pleased to feature some of her photos here on the blog. Thanks for coming along for the ride, Kelsey:)

The tall grasses in these summer fields were just perfect for photographing these newlyweds. These images are simply, beautiful!

The time had come for the bride and groom to make their reception entrance! As it worked out, were able to steal them away for a couple of golden hour shots just before sunset.

Once the bride and groom officially opened the dance floor, the party did not stop! We love seeing everyone have such a good time!

Keziah & Earon: Autumn Wedding in Suburban Chicago

On a sunny autumn day in Chicago, we had the privilege of photographing the fairy-tale wedding of two best friends. We couldn't be happier to be a part of it! From the time we shot the Chicago Engagement Session with Earon and Keziah over the summer, we were looking forward to their wedding day. Surely though not as much as they were!

We met Keziah at her home the morning of the wedding, getting her makeup done to perfection. The house was abuzz with activity, even the pooch could tell this was no ordinary day!

Included in Keziah's details was a broach bouquet bedazzled with jewels that included her grandmother's spider broach. The veil was also special because it was Earon's grandmothers, refaced with modern lace. What a beautiful way to tie the past with the present!

With a little help from her ladies, Keziah was dressed to perfection and looking gorgeous!

Meanwhile, over at their new apartment, Earon was getting ready...or getting ready to get ready. We arrived to find him waiting for his groomsmen to deliver his tux, passing the time by scrolling through a few favorite pics of his bride-to-be on his phone.  It wasn't long after that the guys arrived with his tux and also helped him out with straightening his tie and such.

Soon enough, Earon was dressed and ready to go - but not before a few photo ops with the fellas. Looking sharp, guys!

We reunited with the bride before heading to the ceremony, and came away with some absolutely beautiful portraits. Stunning!

As it turns out, Earon made an unexpected stop by Keziah's home to pick up an item just before the wedding. Everyone scurried frantically to make sure he would not get a look at his bride before the ceremony. They were able to hold hands briefly around the corner of the door, but no peaking! (Actually we're pretty sure Keziah got a peak of you, Earon!)

Both moms were present to help Keziah with her veil, then it was off to the Kingdom Hall for the ceremony. Keziah's father had barely walked her through the door before bursting into tears. Fortunately his wife was there to wipe them away. What a sentimental guy!

Earon's grandfather gave the discourse, and Keziah's father regained enough composure to make it through the vows. (And somehow we managed to get this first kiss from both angles without either of us photo-bombing!)

We took a couple of portraits indoors before convincing the newlyweds to step just a few yards away from the Hall to a small park where the Autumn leaves were in full color. So glad these two braved the chilly suburban Chicago air - it made for some of the most beautiful portraits of the day.

We wanted to get a little closer to the vibrant red leaves of a nearby tree, so we asked Earon if he would spare his new bride's shoes by carrying her over to it. Of course, he was happy to oblige. We were just snapping away when all of a sudden, hail came pouring down out of nowhere. So we took that as our cue to get to our cars and make our way over to the reception.

We arrived at the Steel Metal Workers' International Association Hall to see it all decked out in green and gold. Lots of details meticulously planned by the bride :)

Finally, it was time for Earon and Keziah to make their entrance, and they did it in grand style! What a good-looking newlywed couple! Not too much longer after first dances and cake cutting, the dance floor was open--and the guests were not shy about making their way out there! The floor stayed pack through the entire night!

Keziah and Earon, we are so glad we got to be a part of your wedding day! You two are a beautiful couple, inside and out. Keep that spark alive and you will live that "fairytale" far beyond the wedding day!

Josh & Lilly: The Wedding

We were so happy to pick up the story for Joshua and Elianne, affectionately known as Josh and Lilly, on the December day they would exchange vows in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Friends and family traveled from near and far to witness the event, and it would prove to be a beautiful one.

We started the day as we often do with the groomsmen, huddled casually waiting for their cues. Josh was in his glory that day, and dressed sharply down to the handmade ties, custom cuff-links and embroidered shirt. Wow Josh, we're impressed!

After that last GQ Cadillac shot, we parted company with the gentlemen and went to meet the bride at her home where she and her ladies were getting ready.

It was all-hands-on-deck for Lilly, as her entourage made sure she was looking perfect.

Lilly took a moment to pose with her ring-bearer. This handsome little guy seemed overwhelmed with all the perfume, makeup, and beautification going on at the house, but Tim managed to get him to smile for a brief moment.

With hair and makeup now perfect, it was time for Lilly to slip into her dress and jewelry, with a little help from her matron of honor.

One approving kiss from mom, and she was on her way!

We took this shot of Lilly before she headed into Lehigh University's Linderman Library to see her groom for the first time that day. The library made a nice escape from the rain as well as a beautiful back drop for the bride and groom's first looks.

Josh had been patiently awaiting the arrival of his bride for a while, so he was overcome with happiness to finally see her walk in.

We have to say, while we have photographed lots of couples with dimples, this was the first time we had experienced "double-dimples" - both the bride and groom. On this day, and especially at this moment, the dimples were on full display!

After this last shot with the bridal party at the library, the rain broke just long enough to head across campus for a few more photos. Lilly had her company of men to help her cross without her dress touching the ground for a second. Nice escort!

The captivating beauty of the Alumni Memorial Building was made only more stunning by this handsome couple.

As we mentioned on their E-Session blog post, these two really enjoy each other's humor. We have no idea what was so funny at this moment, but absolutely love their laughter!

We have to say that Lilly was just stunning this day from head to toe!
The guys had their moments of swag and chill...while the ladies look sweet as can be.

Finally we were off to the ceremony. Lilly was escorted down the aisle by her mother and brother as the audience was all grins.

The wedding officiant's touching discourse brought out the laughter in Josh and Lilly while the vows moved them to tears (happy ones of course).

After the exchange of rings, the officiant asked Josh to hold up his hand and show off that ring. "That has to be one of the biggest rings I've ever seen!" He expressed how much Lilly must want the whole world to know that she is proud to have Josh as her man. We can understand that--after all, he is a really good guy.

Once Josh and Lilly had thoroughly checked that everything was official, we took a few family portraits. You could see just how proud and happy their families were on this day.

One more portrait of the bride and we were off to the ceremony.

Josh and Lilly made their entrance at The Eastonian in grand fashion and celebrated immediately with, not one, but two dances.

Next it was time for Josh to dance with his mother, who we know could not be more proud of her son.

And now, time to cut the cake and dance!

The party was going from the time the dance floor opened to the time the reception ended. Young and old, everybody danced and had a great time!

After a beautiful day, Josh and Lilly said goodbye to the crowd and headed off to start their life together.

Joshua and Elianne, it was our pleasure and joy to photograph your wedding day. We wish you all the best as husband and wife!
