International Wedding Photography: A Love Story by Way of China

2016 has been full of changes for us, on a personal and professional level. Having spent the past several months in Asia, adjusting to a new city, country, continent and time zone, we have discovered the simple things in life that brought us happiness on the other side of the globe are the same that bring us happiness abroad. One of those is capturing love. No matter where we have traveled in this world, we have found that true love is the most inspiring emotion that exists on the planet. It transcends national borders, speaks its own language, and needs no interpretation. So imagine our excitement to share these pre-wedding photos from our first international wedding in China. Prepare to feel the happiness from all the way across the globe :)

Sydney's Class of 2015 Senior Photography Session

As the end of summer rolled around, and wedding season was winding down, we had the joy of meeting up with Sydney for her senior photography session. Although Class of 2015 commencement ceremonies had come and gone, Sydney was no less excited about her senior portrait session--and neither were we!

We started the first part of Sydney's shoot at one of our favorite places, Tifft Nature Preserve. The late afternoon sunshine created beautiful pools of light in the trees, along the paths, and among the tall wheat-like grasses. Perfect for such a lovely young lady!

For the second part of our shoot, we were in search of an urban flavor to offset the nature scene. So we made our way in and around downtown Buffalo, finding some of Buffalo's various graffiti and art walls to set the scenery. Sydney's personality was just bursting with effervescence against the vibrant colors of this urban landscape.

Of course, our shoot just wouldn't be complete without a Buffalo landmark to wrap it up. So over to Main Street we went, where Shea's Performing Arts Center was all lit up for "Curtain Up" week. Now isn't that a fitting analogy for senior year? The curtains close on Act One, the scene changes, the next act begins...and you just can't wait to see what's next! Congrats to you Sydney, as you step to the next scene in your life! :)

Presenting Autumn's Class of 2016 Senior Portrait Session

Senior Year is a big deal. So why not kick it off with a little end-of-summer fun? That's what Autumn did for her Class of 2016 Senior Portrait Session. From the urban brick and mortar alleys of Downtown Buffalo's Historical Cobblestone District to the tall grasses of late summer at Tifft Nature Preserve, Autumn rocked every shot of her session! Her clean & simple styling was perfect--but wait til you see those eyes! :)

After a quick outfit change and a short drive down Route 5, we were ready for the second part of Autumn's shoot. We loved every minute of it!

Autumn - thanks for choosing us to photograph your Class of 2016 Senior Portrait Session! We wish you the best in your senior year and in your bright future ahead!

#dreandlishitched15: A Spencerport Wedding at Plantation Party House

The weeks just seemed to fly by from the time we photographed Andre and Melissa's engagement session, and suddenly their Spencerport wedding day was upon us. As we headed down I-90 from Buffalo to Rochester, surrounded by sunshine and the deep green of mid-summer trees, we could see it was shaping up to be a beautiful day.

We caught up with Melissa just as she was finishing up hair and makeup.  The blue in her details and bridesmaids dresses were the perfect compliment to her blue eyes--and the bright summer sky!

Melissa had multiple sets of jewelry and was still undecided until the moment she got dressed. Just then, a family member volunteered her diamond studs, and everyone agreed it was the perfect "something borrowed" that she needed to complete her wedding day look!

Meanwhile down the hall, Andre and his groomsmen were all suited up, just waiting for the ceremony to begin. Love the purple and blue orchid boutonniere against Andre's grey suit.  Just sharp!

Just before the ceremony, Andre came to exchange a gift and private sentiments with his bride. Although they didn't see each other, this hand-hold around the door was definitely the next best thing!

Andre personally rolled out the "white carpet" for his bride's walk down the aisle. With that, the ceremony began. It was a beautiful sight to see Melissa's father escort her toward her groom as friends and family looked on.

Next stop, Spencerport's Plantation Party House, where first we captured a few portraits of the stunning bride, followed by some fun shots with the bridal party.

We had such a hard time narrowing down our favorite couple shots from this wedding. So we stopped narrowing. Enjoy! :)

Meanwhile inside the Party House, the guests were assembled and ready for the party to start!

We absolutely love the happy smiles on the faces the bride and groom's parents as they prepared to make their reception entrance. Everyone in the bridal party was ready to celebrate--but especially Melissa and Andre!

After speeches and dinner, the reception guests meandered along the grounds of the Plantation Party House, enjoying each other's company both indoors and out in the warm evening breeze. Since the newlyweds were soon to move to Hawaii, this day was all about having a good time with their friends and family...and that they did!

As the couple took their turns on the dance floor, first with each other, then with their parents, there was not a dry eye in the house. Such beautiful moments!

The dancing was just getting started, and once it did, it never stopped. This bunch nearly brought down the Party House!

The bride and groom couldn't have looked happier as they made a jovial exit to glow sticks!

And since we were all outside...why not get our final shots of the night alongside the couple's sweet wedding day ride?

Andre and Melissa - best wishes to the two of you as you begin your new life together in tropical Hawaii! So glad you chose us to capture your wedding-day send off from Western New York! Congratulations! Aloha! :)

Tracey & Adam's Avanti Mansion Wedding

From the time we photographed their Buffalo Botanical Gardens engagement session, we were counting down the months and weeks to Adam and Tracey's Avanti Mansion wedding. As we awakened to rain on this surprisingly cool June morning, we hoped the showers wouldn't dampen the spirit of the bride to be. So how relieved we were to see the joy on Tracey's face as she entered Avanti Mansion's foyer doors! The rainy weather on this June Sunday was not going to take away the shine of her wedding day!

We headed up to the Avanti Mansion bridal suite, where the bride would get ready for the day alongside her bridesmaids, flower girls, and of course her mom. All the details were laid out beautifully, and the mood was nothing but celebratory!

Once again we were happy to have Kelsey Watroba of Kelsey Gene Photography join us as our assistant for this wedding, and we are pleased to feature some of her photos here on the blog. (Thanks Kelsey!)

When Tracey's time had arrived to get into her dress, she had a full team assisting with the lace-up dress, and in the end it was a stunning fit for the bride!

Downstairs, Adam and his gents had already made the quick transformation into tuxedos, ties and top hats.

About this time, the bride's father stepped into the bridal suite to get a glimpse at his daughter. And the waterworks were on from there!

Meanwhile down in the ballroom, the guests were assembled, and Adam was waiting patiently for his bride to be escorted down the aisle. As the ceremony started, the ring bearer got a case of butterflies, which lightened everyone's mood with laughter just prior to the bride making her entrance.

The weather proved to be no match for this handsome newlywed couple and their fabulous bridal party. Rain, what rain? :)

As cocktail hour wrapped up, everyone was eagerly anticipating the introduction of the bride and groom. They made their grand entrance, and were showered with loving words from their best man and best lady.

First dances were in order, and they were just beautiful. From that moment on, the DJ got guests of all ages out on the dance floor!

After gathering the bridal party in the foyer for these last group shots, the bride and groom stepped outside with us for their last couple's photograph of the night.

Tracey and Adam - thanks so much for choosing us to capture your wedding day! We wish you much success in your new life together - and hope you enjoy your images for years to come!
