On a warm sunny Sunday afternoon, we met up with Miranda, Joe and their two little girls for an adventurous family-style engagement session at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora. At the outset, when we initially met Miranda and Joe to discuss their wedding day photography, they brought along two special little ladies in their life--Lily and Bailey. After spending just a few minutes with this family, we knew that no conventional engagement session would do. We dropped the idea of a "family" engagement photography session, and everyone was instantly on board.
What an adventure was in store for us! We had no shortage of action and antics as we strolled around the park taking photographs of the entire family.
This series of shots summarizes the feel of the day, with the girls much more interested in playing games and picking flowers than posing for a photo! Who can blame them? But from time to time they appeased us, wandering into frame just long enough for a family shot or two :)
We spent part of our time scouting out a particular bent tree that the family remembered from the year before. What a find! Even Bailey could climb a little! It made for some of our favorite photos of the afternoon.
Another part of our adventure was playing in the grass. Well as it turns out, shortly after posing for the shot below, Joe quickly discovered his intense allergy to grass! We love the way the shot turned out - so we like to think it was worth it!
Joe and Miranda met through Miranda's cousin at a Bills game, seven years and two kids ago. "We don't take too much too seriously... We are better friends than anything else," Miranda says. "He's a good guy. He tries to take care of everybody, even though the girls try to teach him a thing or two." True!
Joe and Miranda - we absolutely love how this shoot turned out - so glad you were up for something a little different! We're looking forward to seeing you again in a couple months at your Klock's Grove wedding!
